Scanned pages are recognised on your own device, so the first page can take 20–40 seconds while the language pack downloads. After that it is much quicker.

The page on screen is read out loud. If your device does not have a good voice installed for the chosen language, an online voice is used instead automatically — this is what makes Tamil (and other Indic languages) read correctly on desktop too.
